  • No there isn’t. There’s lots of ways you can shoehorn NFTs in, but it’s always a poor fit. People always try and claim that NFTs will solve some sort of problem that is already solved with existing technology.

There is no problem NFTs can solve that can’t also be implemented much more cheaply and effectively with an SQL database from the 90s.

  • Oh no there would absolutely be responses, but not to the level of military retaliation as he was suggesting.

China would definitely use it as an excuse to build up their nuclear stockpile and the nuclear test ban treaty would be in tatters.

It would also result in a lot of civil unrest in the US which could spiral into a civil war. To be honest though I can’t really see the US surviving until the end of the century regardless, there’s just too much hate and division there and neither the republicans nor the democrats have ever attempted to fix major societal issues.

  • I’m pretty sure the rest of the world wouldn’t need to do anything. Nato isn’t particularly pro-Iran either so they’d probably be very unhappy with the US, but not actually unhappy enough to do anything about it. Maybe some trade sanctions.

I highly doubt NATO would consider it a sensible response to nuke the US.

Also I can’t see Russia or China getting involved. Russia won’t because I suspect they don’t actually have any functional nukes, and China won’t because they don’t care about Iran enough to risk a war. Obviously Israel isn’t going to do anything. So that leaves maybe North Korea who probably don’t have the range even if he did decide they wanted to respond.

So I can’t see how this would spiral into anything more, unless the US decided to use an unprecedented number of nukes and just cause nuclear winter on purpose, but I don’t think even the Trump administration is that stupid.

  • Yes that is absolutely a valid way of approaching the problem although you do then sometimes run into the problem that the game you’re trying to play is no longer supported (service been shut down left and right).

I also think it’s a bit unnecessary, by all means play the classics if that’s what you’re into, but if you’re doing it to save money, it’s not as if there aren’t high quality indie games being made right now, so it’s not like you have to just play old games to be frugal.
