I’ll say the developer is also very responsive. They’re (ambiguous ‘they’, not sure of pronouns) active in a libraries-fighting-bots slack channel I’m on. Libraries have been hit hard by the bots: we have hoards of tasty archives and we don’t have money to throw resources at the problem.

Well, I was thinking of moving to Linux full-time anyway now that my Windows install is obsolete. Any reason to avoid this distro? Past experience is with Ubuntu, Gentoo, and SuSE. I mostly game.

My archive’s server uses Anubis and after initial configuration it’s been pain-free. Also, I’m no longer getting multiple automated emails a day about how the server’s timing out. It’s great.

We went from about 3000 unique “pinky swear I’m not a bot” visitors per (iirc) half a day to 20 such visitors. Twenty is much more in-line with expectations.

My brother ended up lost in a major city, 3 hours away from home and our parents. He didn’t know where he parked his car, just that it was “at a hotel”. Drugs were almost certainly involved.

His strategy was to wander around asking to borrow strangers’ cell phones until he ended up in a gas station run by an immigrant couple who were OMG lovely. They let him use their phone and they fed him until my parents could drive over and pick him up.

My parents found his car by posting “lost car” ad on Craigslist with a reward.

Anyways, my strategy’s probably to find a local library or equivalent and email my partner and friends a “please help” message. Hopefully someone lends/gives me clothes along the way.

The problem with using nano for years is that I now try using nano shortcuts in other programs. Random new windows opening is confusing, until you figure out Ctrl+o isn’t save in that program. Then it’s just annoying because you still have your inappropriate muscle memory.

Yep, part of evaluating a work is knowing whose work it is. I’ll read a paper on, say, lung cancer by SirTobaccoLobbyist differently than one by DrCancerResearcher. If I don’t know whose work it is, it’s very hard to contextualize.
