I don’t remember where I saw this, but I heard someone set up one of those reductive-but-fun dichotomies by saying “every action game is a dodge game or a parry game”. I had just finished Silksong at the time and had picked up Nine Sols to try and get some more Metroidvania with difficult combat, but as it turns out, I really like dodge games and dont like parry games.

Trying out Songs of Syx again - I bounced off it early on, but I don’t think it had the tutorial when I tried it first. I’m really interested in getting into a colony sim that really cares a lot about settlement layout.

Also, now that my modded Gamecube is working, I’m going back to the best Animal Crossing game - the original US Animal Crossing. I assume a lot of it is my nostalgia, but I really do think that the later entries strayed a bit from the charm of the original as they gave the player more control over their town/city/island. I’m trying it with the Animal Crossing Deluxe mod adding in a bunch of QoL features from the later games and I think this might be perfect for me.
