I only tried one (rill) and it also required a separate config file before I could start spawning windows. Anyways I think this river project is mainly interesting for two reasons:
The second point appeals to me, because my daily driver laptop is nearly 15 years old, so every MB of memory I can save is of tangible value. I’ve gone back to X11 on it because of video driver issues on wayland, but I keep an eye out for projects like these.
I just tried it for a bit, and you basically have to create an executable bash script at $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/river/init that launches your selected window manager ($XDG_CONFIG_HOME is usually ~/.config). It will not work unless marked executable, and you do that by running chmod +x on it.
Interesting read, thank you for sharing!
Seconding this. Bravely Default I & II are classic Final Fantasy.
It’s super fun, I’ve beaten it twice. No perma death makes it feel a bit lower stakes than similar games, and the variety in win conditions and the wildly different terrain on each stage makes it so the gameplay never has time to get stale.

I’ve been daily driving niri on my gaming PC for about as long as you’ve been away. The only problem I have now and then is games will run in tiled mode, while the game itself is fullscreen, so I’m only seeing the left half of the game. Mod+Shift+F has always fixed it so far, and it’s rare enough that I haven’t looked into making a window rule. I don’t use Steam but I’m not sure that matters.
So what you’re saying is we need to start doing 12

Guild Wars 2 with 9405 hours as of just now. Non-predatory MMO with fun moment-to-moment gameplay
Not a good chart. They mix franchises and titles in the same chart which is a strange choice. Mario Kart 8 certainly did not sell that much, seeing as there are only 13 million Wii U’s. They meant Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Switch. They also got the wrong logo for Super Mario Bros, somehow. It’s the New Super Mario Bros. logo but with the “New” cut out.
e: I was wrong about the SMB logo, it did look like that ingame, just not on the box art.
It’s explained in the link
There’s a lot of benefits but for me the biggest one is reduced lag

there’s a lot to unpack in that headline

that’s why it says “was”. in my personal opinion it was always hot garbage but that’s besides the point

Maybe the regular Trimui brick? Hammer is like a deluxe model afaik

Cancelled my patreon membership over this
Void interests me in the same way Alpine and Artix do, but I’ve never actually tried it. How are their repos? Have you come across any packages you miss?
They are just the first small and standalone window managers for X11 and Wayland respectively that came to mind for me. Not necessarily relevant
chat are we cooked?
