Will talk about Linux, plants, space, retro games, and anything else I find interesting.
I may take a stab at it if it bothers me enough. I dont know rust, but I could possibly see playing around with piefed/bookwyrm or some other like platform to prototype. Its probably one of those issues that comes up so rarely that we dont really need to worry too much about. Until its my instance of course 😜 .
Reminder ban communities would totally be a thing. To that, I have no solution other than they would have to be extra-ordinarily coordinated in their trolling. Which the internet is want to do…
To be fair having benevolent mods/admins/dictators are the best case scenario (and we are honestly in a pretty good spot in the fedi).
That’s a good legitimate issue.
There’s some things that could be done, like only allow people that have been part of the community for x amount of time may help. But it will definitely need to be thought about further.
But the current solution is permanent changes by mods of a community you are part of still sucks.
Sucked when it was part of reddit and sucks that it’s still a thing here
Maybe have it so only users with x amount of time can “vote” to prevent brigading.
Worked for valve and the steam deck as an anti scalper measure.
I personally think the solution above will make people more confused. I’m already lost posting to the 5x Linux communities.
One of the reasons I dont like local moderators being perpetually in charge of some communities. We should have a way to vote out unwanted mods. Or at least have term limits.
Ive hosted on a variety of platforms (docker in house and cloud) I find yunohost the easiest. Theres a nextcloud package that just…installs at a click of a button. And the scripts are all there open source so you know what your getting.
Unfortunately its still all in one “container” in that its all on one machine. So it might not be what your looking for. Ive ran my nextcloud for a number of years now and the stability of yunohost has been great for me.
Whats the best phone one can buy for postmarketos?
Yep its one of the bigger issues. I wanted to get a uconsole, but ive heard the support is not the greatest. And the wait times are horrendous for the hardware.
I have 2 terabyte hard drives that get backed up when I remember.
I like the form factor, but seeing the issues with supply on hackberrypi and uconsole, im hoping they dont have the same issue. Lots of people like that form factor (including myself).
Sometimes a small python script that is readable is better for long term support.
She does a great job. Im trying to add in a couple of her videos when I see them into the different communities. I usually go to awk
to be honest, so I completely blanked on columns
. I knew it existed from like 10 years ago, but forgot what I can use it for. I learned something form this video :)
We need more entertaining Linux/open source people.
I feel the same way on PoPOS. I have compiled my own kernel (it’s actually not that difficult honestly) and done all matter of work at work. It’s also how I know the system is super stable and I don’t have to mess with things for my daily driver stuff.
Heh yeah same. Add in a couple of old pis and that is my “infrastructure”.
Yunohost + freshrss is an amazing combo.
Want to switch?
I wish that was ours…
Yep. And they are talking about a couple more price hikes next year. Significant ones.
We have higher market share 4%+. Thats the biggest one for me. We were at 3% earlier in the year.
He does bug me in his coverage in “problems” he says linux has in other videos, but he does research quite a it. So better than most. Like I love my steamdeck and linux support…
