People should share Signal usernames or matrix channels or something at these protests to organize.
I use Arch btw

Yeah that’s the one, but I use the CLI and to run that you type qalc
in the terminal.
Qalc. Best calculator ever hands down
I don’t subscribe to political communities at all. If I want to see politics I switch to the All tab. Most of the time I go through Subscribed or Local though.
If you use Signal, they don’t collect your information at all. I believe it’s only your phone number, registration date, and last time you pinged their servers. They don’t get any messages you send.
As for mail, I think this one’s a tricky bastard but if you use VPN, something like protonmail won’t receive anything on their end, maybe some metadata from when you sent the email though, and assuming the other person is also using protonmail or pgp encryption.
I personally also have a threat model outlined and have 2 phones. One cheap flip phone with my redpocket sim which I use for government and banking stuff. My tmobile phone is for anything else, like friends and social stuff. Maybe you could have the same thing set up.
Mullvad, protonvpn, I hear ivpn is good as well.
I have the exact same setup as you lol
You can also use the Aurora Store and not use appls from the playstore.
I also have a separate SIM in here from Redpocket. You could buy the $30 annual plan on ebay with a visa gift card or something to make it slightly more hard to trace you down. And ofc you can use Signal and no log kyc VPN to do your activities.
Like cloud backup on their server or a subscription just to export the files to store offline?
SHEEEESH that’s dope
Webcord
I’m pretty sure you can also advance with Bazzite. I haven’t done anything too advanced, but I can imagine one can learn a lot simply by learning the ujust commands as they would apt.
I suggest BazziteOS. I have it installed on 2 of my computers for about a year and it works great. It runs KDE and it looks similar to Windows but is much better. Also, I believe it has support for Wallpaper Engine, though I haven’t tried it.
It is Fedora based and Fedora also has a sizeable community for any questions and tutorials you may have.
The reason why I recommend Bazziteos is because it comes out of the box ready for gaming, you would have steam, wine, lutris, etc installed almost instantly and ready to play.
That’s pretty neat
I can’t wait for Joe
I also don’t RTFM
Yeah I had your idea back when I wanted a nas. I didn’t have the time and just bought a synology knowing it wasn’t the best option and was aware of the possibility of enshitification. Now that they’ve enshitified, I can’t really recommend them any longer. So far it’s been good but I’m still looking for options that are quick and easy to set up. Or maybe I’ll grit my teeth and start building one from scratch.
I’ve heard good things about Zen Browser if you want to give that a try.
I think there are some attempts by google and apple by doing client side scanning and uploading it to their servers but I don’t think that’s done yet. For apple, if you have those icloud backups on your apps then I know for sure they can see imessage stuff.
But what I’m saying is, maybe leave your devices at home and share your signal or matrix username information so when you guys come home, you can hop on to those encrypted platforms and organize and share content.
I think Briar works on bluetooth messaging but only on Androids so it’s cool but not too useful for a general purpose messenger.
