  • Samsung and others OEMs have little incentive to collaborate with privacy-oriented roms because a large part of their business models depend on the surveillance baked into their technology. They’re only interested in security as far as it frees them from liability, or can be used as worthwhile PR. They might not be based out of the US or China, but they do still operate in said countries and are all too happy to comply with data or unlock requests.

I’ve worked in IT my whole career and if someone wants me yo install Linux on their machine, or has questions about bash scripting, I’m dropping whatever I’m doing to help them.

How else are my friends and family supposed to teach each other it nobody teaches them? Not everyone was as lucky as I was to be encouraged to pursue tech, that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve the same privacy and options that I benefit from.

  • Andy Yen’s messages were echoed and doubled-down on by official Proton accounts.

The truth to the posts made are the critiques of the Democratic party, not their praise of the republican party. If their posts consisted only of the former, there would be nothing to argue with. But their statements included the unhinged notion that Republicans are somehow antitrust and will fight monopolies.

I would say it is wrong to praise an opponent for doing something right when the only basis for it is that one of their opponents is also fucking up. The fact that democrats are controlled by money has no bearing on whether or not Republicans are.
