They/Them

“I’ve seen it, the mask of humanity fall from capital—it has to take it off to kill everyone—everything you love; all the hope and tenderness in the world. It has to take it off, just for one second. To do the deed. And then you see it. As it strangles and beats your friends to death… the sweetest most courageous people in the world. You see the fear and power in its eyes. Then you know that the bourgeois are not human.”

I just told you I don’t believe in objective evils. Yes obviously I think it is awful. There is however, no way for me to discuss this topic in detached philosophical terms without sounding like a massive asshole so I will not be doing that. I thought I was clear in my original explanation at least, I’m sorry you did not understand me.

Idk what to tell you man I just explained how what is good for workers isn’t an objective good because good is a subjective term. It is okay to pursue subjective goods no? Just because something is true for the majority doesn’t mean it is objective. When workers try to take political power there are going to be those who violently oppose them, this is “good” from their perspective because for them worker power is bad. Yet worker power is still worth pursuing even though bad things happen on the way because it is subjectively good for workers. Does this help? This whole good and bad shit gets confusing which is why I try not to base my worldview around it. Marxism is more about how economic forces direct historical development and how to understand present historical developments based on economic forces. I suck at explaining this shit in liberal terms

You misunderstand. I do not think objective goods exist. I agree that this is a good thing but do you think the bourgeoisie do? Would they say worker control of the economy is good? Good and bad are subjective terms that should be treated that way. We cannot apply what we consider good to everyone and we cannot expect everyone to agree on what is “good”. We therefore shouldn’t base our political platform on what is good for everyone but rather what is good for workers, a catagory which encapsulates the majority of people.

You understand Nazis are idealists right? Like a common dog whistle among them is calling themselves “true idealist” or “actual idealist”. You may not like their ideals and many of them may not actually closely follow their ideals but they do have them. Their understanding of the world begins with an ideal and ends in applying it to the material world, something liberals have in common with them.
