I like stinky tofu a lot. I’m Canadian. I’m excited to see my country grow. I’m new to lemmy. I prefer local communities over public ones, until I’m convinced otherwise. I’m bad at writing bios.

Not to mention how anti-intellectualism is encouraged and fighting amongst each other is ignored. But if you say something politically motivated or hurtful to big tech’s interests, now that’s a problem.

I mean I just got accused of being a ‘rage bait’ bot on another platform for expressing a pretty reasonable opinion.

    Fuck 'em

It helps to take pride in speaking your mind in the way you feel comfortable with. If you get banned or get backlash or whatever, fuck it. I agree that self-censoring has become way too extreme and tbh I blame the shitty corporations who punished people for going against their arbitrary terms and narratives, and bowing down to them.

Edit: I want to make it clear I’m not talking about hate speech, etc. I just mean not being a slave to what others think of you. And allowing yourself to get backlash or banned or whatever here and there. Stand on your principles, as long as you aren’t an objective piece of human garbage.

  • Fuck yeah!

Anyone remember playing Half-Life: Uplink as a kid as well, then forgetting it existed 'till decades later?

Gaming used to be so fucking cool. Not even just nostalgia, people were taking risks with the tech.

Shout out to Ross Scott and Ross’s Game Dungeon btw. Subscribe to him right now or I’ll murder you in Sven Co-op. Yes that is a threat.

  • They’re gonna keep coming after hardware ownership and jacking up prices like they’ve been working on. Even if you get an Intel Arc Pro card that’s moderately affordable, you’re gonna need a reBAR / Above 4G decoding compatible mobo to handle it, along with all the other system components that are already unaffordable for most.

They’re gonna buy up platforms like they did with Hugging Face to stop as much proliferation of the open-weight models as they can. And enshittify them ala every other thing they own

No more tinfoil hats and excuses, this shit is happening and is gonna keep happening. If revenue can go up, they’re gonna make it go up at any cost.

The final cost may be deadly.

Edit: for the record, I agree with you.

  • People shouldn’t be censored for mentioning suicide. The way most of the internet handles any mention of it is a bit silly. Like, I don’t think sending an automated bunch of links to resources is gonna be helpful when your cry for help was removed and you’re back to being alone.

It’s fine to talk about suicide.
