I love these interviews. I don’t even have a device to run Leaf, but I enjoyed reading this anyway.

This game was fun in small doses. Very fast gameplay on tiny maps, so you died constantly, and there wasn’t a lot of variety in the maps or weapons. Basically, a more shallow version of Unreal Tournament or Quake 3, but it did run really smoothly.

It’s nice to know that something like this still exists, even though the original poster in the reddit thread said that business is slowing down. :(

There’s a watch repair shop near me that has this same kind of vibe: a somewhat cluttered shop, run by a guy wearing a jeweler’s loupe that knows how to fix anything.

There was also a small appliance repair place that has unfortunately closed, and I never had a reason to go in while it was open. It had a storefront that looked like it was designed in the 60s and hadn’t been changed since then. Looked great.

Yeah, this quote confirms that the CEO has become AI-obsessed and therefore probably did replace the writer with AI, just like the writer claimed.

Also, it is always so weird to me when people admit that they used AI to do something that they definitely should’ve been able to do without AI. “I had to ask Claude who this employee was” is not a dunk on the employee! You’re just admitting that you don’t even know how to search for a name in your own HR system! Like you’re an incapable moron or something!

People give Windows a lot of flak for this, but at least it usually does turn off after finishing its updates.

MacOS is the one that will just literally ignore the fact that you told it to shut down. Or it takes forever to tell you that a program has unsaved changes. At least Windows will tell you that right away, so that you see the “something is preventing shutdown” message before you walk away from the computer. Your Mac will wait 15 minutes, and then be like, “by the way, the browser doesn’t want to close.”

Hubzilla is a piece of the fediverse that I have not explored enough. This looks super cool.

During the height of the crypto boom, I couldn’t have afforded my own gaming PC that I built ~4 years earlier. Hardware prices have been such madness lately.

I haven’t started it yet (haven’t even bought it yet), but I’ll probably pick up Bomb Rush Cyberfunk and start playing that this week. I’ve been listening to the Jet Set Radio soundtrack lately, I mentioned that in a fedi thread, and several people said I needed to play Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. It’s been on my wishlist for a while now.

Pfft, the only “hoarding problem” is that storage is expensive these days!

Well, at least it’s an update. I was just about to post in here if anyone had received a purchase link from their reservation yet. I made mine on May 10th; maybe that means I’ll be in the “this year” batch.

Very cool, I want to take a closer look at how these work later. Many of them are relying on things that aren’t supported in all browsers yet, though. E.g. the carousel and tabs don’t work at all in Firefox.

If you’re looking for other Capcom fighting games that won’t bug you about buying addons, the Marvel vs. Capcom Collection has Marvel vs Capcom 2, as well as the older MvC games. And Capcom Fighting Collection 2 has Capcom vs. SNK 2.

The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection has SF3, although I think people were disappointed with that one and I forget why.

But yeah, I get what you’re saying. I dug up my Dreamcast recently, and it’s so refreshing how every game is just… the entire game. Like, the whole thing is there, on the disc. If you have it, you have all of it.

The article mentions that the Raspberry Pi 5, with its ARM processor, is still faster than the SpacemiT K3. It’s cheaper, too, with the 8GB Raspberry Pi being $200 and the SpacemiT K3 being $293.

I love to see RISC-V continuing to close the gap on ARM. I currently have an Orange Pi 5 (ARM) for my self-hosting needs, but I’d love for my next server upgrade to be a RISC-V device.

They came out great!

I hadn’t heard of this one before, but it apparently got great reviews at Sundance.

Unreal 2, which is a very boring singleplayer game. But then, a year after its launch, they released a multiplayer addon for it, and it’s still the best multiplayer FPS I’ve ever played. Most people remember it as “that disappointing, singleplayer-only sequel to Unreal.”

Also, VR Troopers, a fighting game for the Sega Genesis. OK, in hindsight, this game is actually terrible. But we played it all the time in elementary school. I mean, it had the VR Troopers in it! From TV!
