I don’t get much hope from people like this.

They were ok with the rape, and the illegal deportations, and the pedophilia, and the elimination of public services and healthcare, the removal of any and all environmental regulations, the killing of American citizens in the streets, the genocides abroad, etc… But “OMG GAS PRICES WENT UP A DOLLAR???” is what counts as a step to far for these types of people???

In my eyes there is no redeeming what they were ok with. To little to late, they can all go get fucked.

I don’t know, a lot of them seem to think:

      • The rapes were fabrications to discredit Trump
      • The rape of children was a fabrication to discredit Trump
      • Eliminating public services is part of a plan to get better public services
      • Environmental regulations weren’t based on anything real and was about kickbacks to regulators

      Etc.

I’d like to know what that woman thinks now, if she realizes the lies.

Nah, actually talk to these people and it’s pretty clear they don’t care. They can’t say they don’t care, so when you present them evidence they just say “I don’t know about any of that” and pretend they didn’t see it. You walk them through, logically, without any evidence, and get them to realize on there own that Trump is evil, and it turns into this meme:

Thats why I’m curious about one that admitted to being wrong, I want to know what she thinks about those things now that she considers a vote for Trump to be a mistake.

Generic MAGA is exactly as you say, thats why I’m curious about a “no longer MAGA” scenario

I’m not even convinced these people are no longer MAGA. At this point MAGA is pretty much a ditch you die in, your family has already cut contact with you, and you’ve dealt more damage to yourself and your country than either can recover from. Like a ball rolling downhill, all roads lead back to MAGA for those that side with pedophiles.

Basically, she’s mad about this but when he comes out and states that we won the war on Iran and have made oil free around the world and have also started world peace, she’s going to be in the stands again.

I’m not at all a gambler but I would wager a hefty sum that she doesn’t.

I was talking to my republican neighbor, whom I’ve been loosly trying to unindoctrinate, she’s still on board with him but isn’t a complete maga loon. She’s more the " I’ve just always been a Republican. " type. When questioned about being in the Epstein files a million times, or being found liable for rape, or any of the other million things, she just says, " well I don’t know about that, I don’t support that stuff. " like support is some sort of buffet where you can pick what you want.

Most of the people that support or have supported him are so shallow you couldn’t drown mouse in them. From all of my experience growing up in rural deep red maga country, they’re all either complete morons, complete hateful assholes, or a mix both.

I think that’s potentially reading a lot from not much context. How do you know this is because of gas prices? Some of the people really are just completely mislead and believe that the “other side” is trying to convince them that these “untrue things” (that are true) are true.

It’s like how people say that Hillary Clinton is the devil and eats babies. You don’t believe that because to you, it’s obviously untrue. But to some of these people, the thought of “their side” being child rapists is probably as unbelievable as the baby eating thing is to you. And the more time goes on, the more irrefutable the pedophilia and human rights abuses are to more and more people.

I’m not saying that’s happening here, but I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt without enough context.

But maybe I’m just also not quite as exposed to republicans as others are and I’m talking out of my ass haha

I would totally agree with you if it was 10 years ago. But we have already had a Trump administration that failed miserably, killed millions of people, and had record low approval ratings.
I go out of my way to avoid Fox News and it’s ilk, but I still have to deal with it. There’s no way for these people to have spent the last 10 years without being exposed to differing opinions and facts that expose at least some of the lies. The people who still “believe” in Trump do it willfully. They don’t want to be wrong, so they purposely ignore those things that they don’t want to know. They want something that Trump provides so badly that they are lying to themselves. This is also why they are so vocal about their insanity. They have to keep yelling it at the top of their lungs to drown out the little voices in the back of their heads. The problem is Trump only has one thing to offer and that’s hate.

You forget that the media they consume is hiding all of the bad stuff from them, or spinning it so it sounds positive.

Like Test_Tickles said, they’ve had 10 years for outside information to trickle in, and there is no way they haven’t been even tangently exposed to outside information. I absolutely do not consume any rightwing or for that matter any 24hr news networks but bits of both sides still filter in.

That’s sort of what I’m alluding to. It seems to me that these people are in essentially the reality version of a casino with a painted sky. It looks and feels like outside, it’s just completely controlled by the people that own the casino and crafted entirely to keep the illusion up. They watch Fox, their friends might read Washington Post, their friend’s friends watch whatever else. More and more media is being bought by Billionaires that have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo.

It feels like you’re getting differing opinions because this guy reads this which is SLIGHTLY more moderate than that but overall it’s so far more right from what things were like even 10 years ago that it doesn’t really matter.

            And people just don’t notice.

It makes sense when you realize they were raised in a multi-generational cult where critical thinking and questioning authority is actively punished.

You mean the Rambo/Dirty Harry worshiping generation? The generation of gun welding loaners who could take on the world all by themselves? The ones that pulled themselves up by their boot straps without help from anyone?
Because I have no clue who you are talking about.

I would guess it is because of gas prices and it isn’t clear whether this is a single issue thing ahe is really worked up over or an overall realization of his shittiness. While fun to hear, she is most likely just mad about gas prices.

Okay, hot take: people care about gas prices because it’s how most people are exposed to politics. No matter how wilfully ignorant you are, you can’t not notice gas prices spiking. Most of the rest of politics is opaque unless you’re tuned in.

So why does that matter? Because it means everyone (with a car) knows there’s another war in the middle east. So anyone who thought Iraq was bullshit and voted for Trump because he promised “no more wars” is painfully aware that he lied now.
