    Meme or not, I don’t get everyone’s obsession with this guy. Never fucking heard of him until he died.

      He was a major rightwing influencer and ‘debate bro’ show host who would debate college kids instead of anyone with experience who was fed talking points and being groomed to hold offfice - that’s the only reason anyone knew who he was.

          Yeah, to add to that, a lot of people on Lemmy are left leaning (obviously), and Kirk was one of the key people who have instigated the huge divide between the left and right across America. He was extremely antagonistic towards minorities, specifically the Black population, and was just generally a horrible person to a lot of people on the left or minorities in general.

          So the hate is justified, and he’s helped to ruin a lot of lives out there.

      I’m pretty sure his popularity was rage bait only. I only saw left people making fun of him.

      I mean, social media is a bubble. But genuinely was pretty sure not many conservatives actually listen to him.

      It was mostly just rage bait.
