ATC gave clearance, and then immediately realized and told them to stop like 10 times.

That being said, any vehicle crossing the runway is required to verify physical clearance before crossing active runways for this exact reason.

A landing plane is bright as fuck, even after they’re on the ground. Those landing lights are like little suns because of what they need to illuminate for the aircraft at a distance.

That driver clearly didn’t even attempt to check the runway before heading out.

Yeah… ATC fucked up but the truck driver did NOT look both ways before crossing the street.

I’ve driven around air side at an airport a couple of times, it’s not always immediately obvious if there’s a plane landing even during the day, especially If you aren’t particularly familiar with aircraft, even during the day.

This was at night, the driver was given the all clear, and there was an emergency they needed to get to quickly. So even if the driver looked to see if it were clear, being dark, all he would see is a bunch of lights in the sky. It would have needed more than a quick glance to see if the lights were of a landing plane or a plane that was just taking off, or even lights from a plane at all.
