I’ve been thinking, how come I see multiple people bring them up and I haven’t seen their posts myself? Turns out I’ve already blocked them at some point in the past

That’s why I tag instead of block. Then I get to play a little game and see if I can guess which moron it is before I see the tag. Let’s see now… is this one “AI bootlicker,” “Horndog trying too hard,” “Breathing app shill,” “Is ‘nonce’ the right word,” or “absolute fucking moron?” Oh wait, it’s “credit cropping little bitch.”

Quite frankly, I don’t care why I did it. I block people to preserve my mental health, whenever I notice that seeing someone’s replies is getting on my nerves. If that makes my Lemmy experience an echo chamber, so be it. I’d rather be stuck in my ways than have my mood ruined by words of a stranger I’ve never seen and will never meet.

It would be cool if we had a web of trust. So if everyone you’ve been upvoting keeps downvoting someone, then that someone’s posts are hidden by default.

        Example:

post hidden due to poor reputation

Here’s a long rambling story that looks like it might be interesting…
        [pages]
… and that’s why we should expand child labor.

I rarely block, but I tag with Voyager. That way I’m not missing any conversation, I’ll see a warning for comments likely to be disingenuous, and they don’t live rent-free in my head.
