I feel like anyone saying ‘there is a third?’ Hasn’t followed anything about Dune -both book or movie. If you know the books, you know Paul has a story arc that continues past the first book. If you were following the movie, Denis Villeneuve was loud and clear when making the first movie that he wanted it to be a trilogy that followed the main story arc of Paul (through Messiah. Not counting the preacher Paul of Children).

Are the movies worth it? Fuck yeah. Is this the last movie? Denis Villeneuve was clear about not wanting to adapt beyond the second book. So if it did happen, it wouldn’t be with him, and he is the real talent and driver behind these movies. So most likely this is the last movie. It was never going to be some Marvel 30 movie slop fest or Avatar shoot-plot-from-the-hip saga.

Yeah, the second one didn’t hook me either, so I’ll not rush to this one.

I love space operas, but Dune has never rubbed me the right way

So why did you watch two Dune movies?

I’m not going to watch 40 episodes of Big Bang Theory then whine about it.

I enjoyed the first one, so I expected to enjoy the second one … and it wasn’t bad, it just didn’t hook me despite having all the things I usually like

I haven’t seen part two but wtf is part three? I honestly do know. Was going to watch part two but if this is the case, I’m tapping out.

Parts 1 and 2 are the story of the first book. Part 3 is the story of the second book: Dune Messiah.

The goal of the Dune Messiah book is to show the consequences of Paul Atreides actions, every suffering and every unavoidable path he ended up taking.

I’m curious to see how Dennis will handle the plot.

Was going to watch part two but if this is the case, I’m tapping out

But why? It’s just a trilogy using “Part X” on it’s name instead of Dune 1, Dune 2, Dune 3.

Dude, there’s also 5 more books as well. This is just barely scratching the surface of the universe of Dune.

I don’t know much about the dune universe except the old film from decades ago which I like. The recent part 1 was cool and down to see the second but if there’s more to it than that, I don’t want to spend that much time. That’s it, I don’t dislike it, just don’t want to invest into the films.

Hot damn, didn’t know that. I was just casually walking into a party not knowing was going on lol. What do you think is a more easy going and fun ride, the books or the mini series?

Bit dated now but I still enjoyed them. Quality is lower but I think they did a great job with the source material. I consider it supplemental material. If you want more dune content. I saw it on youtube just last year.

Ooooh are they gonna start scalping movie tickets? Sounds like that could be where this is headed

They’re not gonna start scalping movie tickets. They already HAVE been scalping movie tickets.

Since “Oppenheimer”, and probably before that.

This third movie, is only the end of the beginning of the full story. Though it’ll be the last from Denis Villeneuve.

You’ve got a lot of education ahead of you, if you care to learn about movies, literature, and culture.
