      Not necessarily. People used to own their personal (wooden) spoons and carry them around in a small bag. You would own a spoon for many years and use to it eat all your meals. Cheap metal cutleries being available everywhere is relatively new.

        all that i know, but looking at the handle i thought that it looks more like a spoon one uses infrequently. Maybe to stir tea, without resistance.

        It would be uncomfortable to eat with a spoon like that.
