A while back I worked for a facility that specialized in inpatient mental health care for children. Teens, sure, but also units for kids 4-7 and 8-12.

A wide range of physical and sexual abuse cases, bullies (often paying forward abuse at home), and the bullied, driven to thoughts of suicide.

But there was another group. Kids sent for evaluation by schools for acting out excessively or aggressively or both. No physical or sexual abuse. No bullying from either direction.

The problem was they lived with a parent or parents who loved them so much, they worked 3 minimum wage jobs to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads. Neglect? Is it?

Time is the ultimate commodity. You can love your kids, but without the time to spend on them, what becomes of that relationship?

This really is the greatest theft made by the top 10%.

And when we do have spare time, they make sure their devices steal our attention for as much of it as possible.

Things are already infuriating enough in general, but the way kids become the victims of this system even when they have loving parents that would very much like to take care of them properly, it just makes me so indescribably mad
