Honestly, I have not seen anyone who values art “be ok with” generative AI.

Losers who see ai as the opportunity to compete with people who are passionate about something else than fame or money.
AI is cool. A program being able to generate text so close to human writing or one that is able to generate images that look so real is really impressive

not here for sure, but Lemmy is not exactly a reflection of the general population
people are starting to grow numb to gen AI, and people have grown numb to worse things so it’s not exactly going to get undone easily
Even on Lemmy AI has been normalized a bit, although in those cases it’s always used to make fun of some dead MAGA or some dying MAGA
Zero people in my personal life and one person in my professional life thinks that way
Have you not seen all the slop posts recently that are getting lots and lots of upvotes. I’m afraid we are a minority now.
It is a lot less worrying once you remember that basically every AI company is subsidizing their customers with investor money and when the customers have to start paying what it actually costs to do anything, the usage will plummet.
I hope so, ai should be so expensive it is more affordable to use our own brains.
On the bus I see people unironically sitting there watching fully AI generated shortform content. It’s sad.
Or that Gen AI is being accepted to mean general AI instead of the actual term of generative AI. Which isn’t even AI at all. It’s Markov chains all the way down.
