My elderly parents are getting a continuous amount of scam calls now practically every day for I don’t know how long. All because they one time actually took a call and talked a while with the scammer. I am not at their home a lot, but last time blocked numbers on their handset landline phone. It seems the scammer noticed and switched numbers as they do.

Point is, this has been going on for weeks or months. 24h are nothing in waiting time for a scammer. It just forces them to do yet another call a bit later.

Scammers spoof the caller ID. Blocking numbers doesn’t do shit because those aren’t their real numbers.

It does create extra blocks, but isn’t going to be as effective as eg. The helmet law for stopping motorcycle theft. (Compulsory helmet -> cannot just take any unattended motorcycle without being sus)
