Nah, fuck that. The only difference is that older conservatives hid their bigotry better. They were smarter. But they were no less manipulative or oppressive. They voted and cheered for people who flooded poor neighbourhoods with drugs to create their war on drugs, so they could target blacks and hippies, drastically increased the gap between rich and poor, have supreme court justices appointed over 3 decades ago that still wreak havoc on human rights today.

    Edit: some*** older conservatives

I don’t think I’ll go that far. Times change, and so do societies. And methods of communication. I think they’re generally just stupid, possibly even more so. It’s just that the way we relate to and communicate with each other has changed.

I think what has substantially changed is that society is more polarized than it used to be. Bigotry was less noticeable because the differences between the bigots and those who were not bigots was more subtle. Now it’s much more stark

They aren’t even that. Each of them are now nothing more than a network of speakers. They get sent their right wing messaging and start blasting whatever the message of the week is; Somali daycares, trans agenda, Iran dangerous to America, regulation bad. They dont need to reprogram everyone, not even most. 1/3rd will do the trick.
