As a lot of reviewers are saying, it feels very close to the Steam Deck controls. The trackpads are slightly different texture and a bit more refined (in a good way). The D-pad and face buttons feel good to me as a longtime gamer.
I’m used to the Xbox Elite 2 these days and this is quite a bit lighter in weight and feels more like plastic, but still solid enough (again, like the Deck). I do maybe prefer the 8-edged D-pad and I’ll probably miss the trigger stops, but gyro and trackpads and grip sense should more than make up for it.
Hi, when people say it feels similar to the Deck, they also mean the shape? One thing I don’t like at all about the deck is how square the shape of its controllers are, as if they should be more angled outward in order to be comfortable to me. Are the Steam controller sides as straight as the Deck?
It’s angled, but it’s also narrower than the deck, which can make angled grips more necessary. I’ve heard both sides, some people say the grip angle is more comfortable than the deck, others say it’s not angled enough to make up for how much skinnier it is.
No, the controller is angled a bit so it’s not as square feeling as the Deck. It’s fairly similar to e.g. an Xbox controller in terms of overall shape in the hand.
