I hope the government doesn’t do this. FN race-based benefits are already so enticing that people have clear financial motives to be pretendians. Like the Gill sisters, who went from being Entrepeneurs making bank / on the lawyer track, to working at dead end jobs, once their FN benefits disappeared due to their fraud being exposed. And those perks are significant in some areas. Groups like the Tsawwassen, apparently pay their people about $18k/year, and have shifted public revenues of about $170 million over the past 10 or so years into a band-exclusive trust fund. There are only ~400 people in that FN.

There are some areas where there are still gaps / deficiencies that need correcting / attention. But there ought to be limits as to how the perks from being born a certain race are distributed, especially in a country that claims equality/equity matter. People should be free to practice their culture however long they want, just like immigrants can maintain their ancestral cultures for as long as they want – but that doesn’t mean the government / public purse should be funding one specific demographic indefinitely without restriction.
