One of the modern greats from this part of the world
Is it safe for work?
She looks like she’s recovering from work.
posted in a community dedicated to art, it is
why are you here?
Naah I’m not here I’m just strolling thru all activity across this wonderful platform, meanwhile I stumble across untagged nudity. I do understand it’s not meant to be sexual in nature, it’s art and I respect that. This post might be art itself as it made me stop for a moment and ponder “Should this be flagged nsfw or not?”
And so I share this thought to the comment section. (Guess that answers your question of why am I here)
from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amrita_Sher-Gil
Amrita Sher-Gil (30 January 1913 – 5 December 1941) was a Hungarian–Indian painter. She has been called “one of the greatest avant-garde women artists of the early 20th century” and a pioneer in modern Indian art. Drawn to painting from an early age, Sher-Gil started formal lessons at the age of eight. She first gained recognition at the age of 19, for her 1932 oil painting Young Girls. Sher-Gil depicted everyday life of the people in her paintings.

Here’s some more of her work I’ve previously posted. Those are probably the two pieces I like most amongst her oeuvre
looks like she was still trying different styles.
wonder how her painting would mature if she had more time
she was only 28 when she died :/
In 1941, at age 28, just days before the opening of her first major solo show in Lahore, Sher-Gil became seriously ill and slipped into a coma. She later died around midnight on 5 December 1941, leaving behind a large volume of work.
