What’s the middle of two things that are the same?
Leftist democracies (social democracies) perform best on humanitarian and economic charts. Just look at the Nordic countries. The state provides free healthcare and education and imposes regulations on the private sector when needed. Hardcore capitalism will destroy a society just like hardcore communism will.

For now. Most of the world has barely started catching up) or hasn’t caught up at all to Europe’s colonialism-fueled development. Not so coincidentally Europe’s standard of living is also declining. Also,

You should read about Unequal Exchange. The Nordics are the way they are because they benefit from the massive wealth extraction of the empire.
I don’t think it would be the best system, and perhaps not even very good, but it would probably be better than pure capitalism … at least until capitalism corrupted it.
Not sure if I’d want to live in such a society, but I’d really like to see a place that made a real balance, striking some kind of middle point between communism and capitalism … just to see how it turns out.
