Can you blame them? Whatever official communications they might be having with the trump regime is being leaked, chopped, changed, fabricated wholesale, and spit back at them in the public media circus trump lives in.

They know nothing they are doing matters beyond what trump is telling his base

This was completely inevitable and predictable. If the Trump admin had been serious about diplomacy from the start, they wouldn’t have sent two real estate developers who are also Israeli assets to do the negotiations. They hoped the could bully Iran into submission and they completely failed.

I honestly don’t know where it goes from here. The best thing Trump could do is walk away. Just pretend the US won and pull all US military out of the region. But that would anger the Israelis and Trump would be roundly mocked by everyone else for fucking up so badly. On the other hand, winning militarily is basically impossible at this point without a huge influx of US forces on the ground, and even then it would take years to topple the regime.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - this has got to be the most astoundingly stupid self-inflicted humiliation in the history of US foreign policy.

The US saw how brexit played out and said hold my beer, were #1. Nobody makes more damaging self inflicted decisions than us
