A hobbyist is rebuilding Microsoft’s 3D Pinball: Space Cadet as a real machine, crafting a physical playfield with working bumpers, ramps, and lighting.
Pinball is the most retro game I know of that isn’t a sport. It’s also way more impressive than a video game, to me. It takes a lot of work not just to build the table, but to balance it so it isn’t boring to play like a lot of the earliest pinball machines.
Making a pinball machine “from scratch” is one of the things on my bucket list. Having repaired a few over the years and seeing the insane cleverness/trickery that goes on inside, I’ve pushed it down toward the bottom :)
Yes, in my opinion anyways, it counts.
The original game itself apparently was a demo for another full set from “Full Tilt Pinball”, or something like that anyways.
I’m all for it, like how often do you get a videogame turned into real life hardware?
Retro comes to life? Still retro…
