    The worst is when rich people interview other rich people about their rich person thing (e.g. Ivanka Trump purchasing an island), so that poor people can watch it on television. That level of narcissism and arrogance is just fucking astonishing to me. You can be rich and also just shut the absolute fuck up about it.

      Seeing some of the wealthy crying on camera, saying they’ll flee because of a tax, that it’s a nightmare scenario, that it’s akin to a racist slur to tax the rich…

      On an unrelated note, did you know that during the french revolution, guillotines were used?

      I don’t get it either bit poor people even love to watch this, thinking rich people are still normal people with normal problems… Lets not forget though that rich people are not our main concern. It’s the obscenely rich people that need some obscene defunding.

    This is why I get my news from real people in real life or from the one exception, Reuters. Partisan politics is lame and has infected the entire domestic news industry to a point of being laughable.

    I used to love NPR until I realized that they make their content for their hyper rich coastal elite donors and don’t actually care about rural heartland residents like myself. I don’t care at all about jazz music or political unrest in an unrecognized self proclaimed nation state, I want to know how we can get solar everywhere that corn fields destined to be turned into combustible fuel inhabit.

      If we discarded every source that had a liberal or capitalist slant, we would effectively have to stop reading 99% of Western media, and we’d be blinding ourselves to the narrative of the ruling class. We are adults with functioning brains and the capacity for critical analysis. We should be able to read a piece of liberal slop, identify the ideological framing, strip it away, and analyze the material conditions they are reporting on or trying to obscure.

      You need to read the Wall Street Journal because it is the mouthpiece of the ruling class that tells you exactly what capital is thinking, what they are afraid of, and how they are strategizing to protect their interests. You cannot effectively dismantle an argument if you refuse to understand its internal structure and logic.

      Running away from information because it doesn’t align with their worldview is what liberals do when they retreat into their MSNBC bubbles. We should be secure enough in our own position to read sources we abhor, understand them, and approach their claims from a position of knowledge. Ruthless criticism of all that exists includes reading sources like the wsj.

        The first step to your perspective is believing they’re actually telling you the truth.

        I believe they lie about everything they say. There isn’t a shred of honesty in any GOP or Dem politician, and the news media, whichever side they represent, takes what they say at face value and run with it. Dumping tons of time and energy into deciphering their actual intentions or hopes is like trying to figure out how a magician did his trick without him ever telling you.

        I find very little value in what is being uttered on any given website or podcast at this point because I’ve watched how we’ve devolved into infighting more and more to the point of violence and hate for my entire life. What kills me is that the biggest lie of my lifetime, 9/11, actually brought partisans together better than the lies of today could ever hope to. If you’re a Republican, you’re an NSDAP racist murder-complicit demon. If you’re a leftist, you’re a low impulse control, violent antifa-adjacent imbecile who can’t fathom biology or sexual-dimorphism with no understanding of how economics or compassion actually works.

        You cannot be a partisan and participate in partisan politics if you ever want to live a peaceful life. You cannot consume partisan media and actually believe if if you ever want a better life. You cannot be a third party voter because your vote is monopolized away by the big two.

        If you ever want to live outside of an echochamber, live at peace, raise your family, and fulfill your life’s goals, you must detach.

          That’s not what I’m saying at all. The first step to my perspective is to consider the framing they’re using and to think why they want to push a particular narrative. Nowhere did I say anything about assuming they’re being truthful. Although, in most cases western media uses more sophisticated techniques for distorting information than outright lying. It will be omission of facts, framing, and so on.           And you should also widen your media diet to include non western sources. These will have different biases and framings which you can contrast with what western media reports.

    My eyes were practically bleeding while watching some local news coverage at a bar, fairly recently.

    It was literally two geriatric fascists in cowboy hats yelling at each other over the image of a young black man with facial tattoos in an orange prison jumpsuit. The debate was whether the local PD had gone woke and become complicit in street crime or just needed another zillion dollars of additional funding to fight the urban menace.
