I think anon was telling the truth
I once decided to do some life drawing at the gym after I was done with my sets for the day and I honed in on an Arab guy with a beard like a spear, head held high like a kind and walking on an incline on the treadmill.
While I was drawing him, I sense two guys coming over. Big guys. Huge. Like their biceps are the same thickness as my thigh. They’re Arab too and they ask me what I’m drawing. I show them and they burst out laughing, turning to the guy on the treadmill, who turns out to be a friend of ours and they yell something akin to “wallahi, she drew you, [name]. She made you look too handsome” and then they turned to me and complimented my drawings before going back to their routines. Treadmill guy blushed like a schoolgirl being told she’s pretty and I was just so relieved they didn’t come over to squash me.
It’s not really their fault, but once men exceed a certain body mass in muscle, they just look so friggin intimidating, even if they are sweethearts underneath all that beef.
Sadly, I fear the sketch was inside one of the sketchbooks I ended up trashing during our most recent move. Would’ve been fun to show it. Was practicing Japanese brushpens with real ink at the time. That was its own adventure. Once had a cartridge explode in my face and I had to do the walk of shame across town with my entire face covered in ink splatter.
anon wants to be on his knees for that guy, which is gay, but understandable.
Wholesome
Strong lifts is a popular lifting program that a lot of people start with - it’s good even if you’re an advanced lifter. Do 5 sets of 5 reps of whatever lift and increase it over the program duration
You just reminded me when I started I used 5x5 with https://stronglifts.com/app/
Then I moved to a gym with PT then finally just https://www.strong.app/ with full body workout 2x a week
Grats on your cake day btw, looks like we’re both from the og reddit migration :)
Technically I was as well, but it took me a while to find Lemmy.
the og reddit migration
that’s the same one, june 2023 :)
🤦
Thanks.
5x5 is a good program. I do CrossFit for the variety - I know it gets shit on but it gets me to the gym. I am more than likely undiagnosed ADHD, so the novel workouts hit the spot for me. The variety in consulting is why I also thrive in that sphere.
I’ve got strong legs, shoulders, and back, but I wish I had the build of your typically gym bro.
