For all the faults I find Carney to have, I can’t fault him on this. As much as I would like for him to bite the bullet and have taxpayer funds take care of restoration, it’s probably a better idea to foot the cost to individual fundraisers in the short term to avoid political discourse.
Of course that’s assuming that he and the Liberals quietly ensure that upkeep is paid with taxpayer dollars for the forseeable future afterwards.
