Probably not, but software engineering has been captured by shitty management and MBA and doing the correct engineering process isn’t encouraged.
Everything has to ship yesterday and every bugs will be fixed tomorrow unless it affects the bottom line.
So lots of software engineers move from companies to companies getting burned out and not giving a shit anymore. They don’t care about what’s shipped because almost every advice they give is ignored, and every process is bypassed. So they are there for the paycheck, so might as well get paid more.
Yes, but “AI”! Everything needs to have the AI that everyone definitely wants and doesn’t hate. I’m waiting for them to put “copilot” in copilot, so you can slop while you slop. Nothing’s about having a good product anymore, or at least nothing that applies to you or me.
At least once a week after using my work pc, i ask myself “are the software engineers who built this proud of themselves? How could they possibly be?”

Bold of you to assume engineers are involved any more. It’s all interns, offshore contractors, and AI generation.
Unpaid interns*
It seems to get buggier with every update. Couldn’t they just do nothing and have a better product?
