German Chancellor Friedrich Merz outlined a package of pension, tax and labor reforms on Thursday, along with measures to cut red tape that he said would boost growth, jobs and competitiveness while maintaining social welfare protections.
Oh no I’ve heard of China’s 9-9-6 and such, but it’s definitely American political and social influence that is helping push Europe right.
I would namecheck China if I thought China was the one influencing them like this, but the American cultural and legal influence on Europe is plain to see.
Like examples such as when Sweden was influenced by US media companies to put the guys from The Pirate Bay in jail prison, but those same companies are more or less okay with making “deals” with AI companies despite the AI companies having done what The Pirate Bay admins did but by ten-thousand-fold if not more.
Anyway, yes, the rest of the world often has even worse options, but Europe (in general) has pretty good social and worker protections, and it’s not China exerting it’s influence to reduce worker protections in Europe. China seems happy just kicking back and letting the West make all the mistakes.
