Putting aside which is worse, and putting aside the race element, the crime of rape is far more unforgivable than the crime of murder. Although the far-right (not just in America) seems very quick to forgive rapists.
Out of curiosity… how can something unforgivable be more unforgivable than something else that is also unforgivable? Actions like that are either completely unforgivable or they are forgivable, right?
Nothing is ever completely unforgivable (emphasis on the “completely”), literal Hitler aside.
If someone murders their spouse in a fit of rage and not only shows intense remorse for their crimes but also dedicates their life to helping others at tremendous cost to themselves, I’d be able to forgive them.
But would you let them be in charge of a facility meant to help domestic abuse victims?
That’s the point being made here. Even if you can forgive a war criminal, they shouldn’t be allowed to hold a public position of power that let’s them influence the wars, invasions, and conquests of the US empire.
I should’ve put more emphasis on the word “unforgivable”. I assumed people would read my random Lemmy post more closely.
There are a variety of reasons people commit murder, but there’s only one reason they rape someone and that is for their own pleasure at the expense of others. For that reason, the crime of rape is far harder to forgive.
He was a guard at Abu Ghraib, so he was already known for doing what you claim to be unforgivable when western liberals were saying how he should be rewarded with a high position in the most vile state in existence.

No you didn’t.
Wait you’re saying that Platner drunkenly raping his GF is worse than murdering her?
She let him rape her because she was afraid of something worse happening if she didn’t.
Saying that one is more unforgivable already means you consider it worse.
Reducing war crimes to murder…
As did OP.
How do you sleep after defending war criminals?
Death to all war criminals and rapists. There is no compromise on this. There is no lesser evilism here.
They didn’t
