If he’s already won a by-election since the investigation started, it’s easy for him to claim everyone should vote for him again as they already voted for him while the investigation was ongoing, so there’s no new wrongdoing and no new reason to question whether he’s the right person for the job.
He’s running as a candidate in the by-election, so he’ll probably win making the whole thing a waste of time and money.
