It’s so well known that this is the skull the “are we the baddies” sketch is about. You can see it everywhere in pictures about the death camps. And this guy was frequenting military history subs. Guess what’s on the cap of Heinrich Himmler? It’s not the “runes” it’s the totenkopf. The reason that sketch chose that skull is because of it’s prominence.
