It’s safe to say, don’t buy cameras from shady places.
“Iowa sued Temu and its Chinese parent company on Wednesday, claiming the online retailer violates Iowans privacy rights and exposes them to spying by the Chinese government.”
Also, Cyb3rMaddy Investigated a Camera from Temu. There is some truth to China harvesting your data. But! Data was also being sent to servers in the U.S.

It’s propaganda, because we’re supposed to be afraid of China spying on us while our own government spies on us.
What are China’s spies even going to do to me?
The U.S is just collecting my data, what are they even going to do to me?.. It’s all about your data. That is the whole point. It’s not about fearing China.
Rough you up, put you in prison, kill you, etc. My government can actually hurt me. China can’t do shit.
The word fear is not mentioned in that link. The whole point is, you shouldn’t want anybody collecting your data. From anywhere.
But why does Iowa care so much more about China collecting data than the US? The fear is implied, we’re supposed to be scared of the evil foreigners having our data while the good ol’ US companies can be trusted. Otherwise, why focus on China?
Come on, “spying by the Chinese government” is blatant fear mongering. Spying by the US government is far more concerning.
It is just because Temu’s inventory primarily ships from manufacturing hubs and warehouses in China. But the primary headquarters is in Boston, Massachusetts. Interesting. China still spies but I don’t think as much as the U.S.
Why does it matter that Temu’s inventory primarily ships from manufacturing hubs and warehouses in China?
The implication is that we’re supposed to care because it’s China. Specifically, because it’s China.
Devices actually have shown up with spyware in it. That is why. This isn’t an anti China post. It just so happens that they came from their factory.
All of our devices have spyware but Iowa doesn’t care about that! It only cares because it’s China. WHY
