And music too. I’m 52 and thought live music had been dying for decades…but the new breed is really into it, and is taking it to places i don’t even think i’ve seen before. The kids are alright.
New music? Angine de Poitrine just had a Smells Like Teen Spirit moment with their KEXP set, for starters. It has been a while since something real broke the mold like this. They are the real deal.
Sleep Token is also pretty special. They just can’t seem to write a bad song, and they’re legit musicians carving out something super unique.
They both have gimmicky visual surface level hooks…but, once you get beyond that, they’re both doing something really amazing musically, and they’re progressing the whole landscape of music right now.
Snarky Puppy/Jacob Collier are also redefining jazz at the moment, in case anyone hasn’t noticed.
I mean, I saw NIN earlier this year and it was next level with how they incorporated Boys Noize into the set. But, I don’t think anyone from Gen Z was involved in the show… and there weren’t many in the crowd.
The fun part is that keeping people focused on differences between the generations is part of the trick of divide and conquer.
Except boomers, but even then, there are plenty of chill boomers. It just so happens that many of the worst in power happen to be boomers. Correlation != causation.
To illustrate your point, look at Stephen Miller, pretty solidly millennial and undeniably lacking any form of morals with only toxic waste where his heart should be
Leadership tends to favour the older generation as they are perceived to have more of the required experience
Edit: you can downvote but this exists so obviously somebody is making it. So somebody embraced it. They’re all over the main platforms this is just an example of one
My comment is saying this shit exists dude. I’m not endorsing it. The comment I was replying to said gen z rejected it completely. This shows they did not.
Dunno why you’re getting downvoted, but yeah I read that as you bringing awareness and not endorsing it. Companies like Suno are definitely pushing AI-generated music tools, and I’m glad I see more people against it than for it.
For me, its the same new music argument that happens every ten years except this one definitely ain’t winning any awards. Is it good? Mostly not, you can immediately tell. Was the Elon’s Musk song funny? Yes, but only cause a human wrote the lyrics which is telling. I say if its not your tribe dont stick with it, at the end of the day its just more noise in the industry. Pierce the Veil just released a new album, and so did Skrillex, and this didnt stop them. That new age moment that always hits the headlines of complete takeover never happens. It definitely ain’t happenin’ with the generic music machine.

Got any examples?

To be fair you were watching a guy that got big 30 years ago

Idk, I always like his band
Ugh. Fine. Have an updoot and fly like an eagle.
Hah. My old reddit/steam/etc name was bobdangle. Everyone obviously thinks it’s my name but it’s just what my dick and balls do
Holy shit, I haven’t thought about Boys Noize in like 15 years. Good to see they’re still going
They haven’t completely. Look at people like Skyebrows, they generate AI music. https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=lageQpKpI2c

I would prefer not to look at them.

There will always be shitty music.
Thank you I feel seen
As there will always be good music.
