If you boil down both great stories and terrible to their most basic plot elements they will often be the same thing. That does not make the stories equal. They live and breath with how they are told and who they are told by. They are both tragic characters, but the former is taken seriously while the latter is a farce.
Didn’t Arnold just say something in the lines of “I am in pain and therefore I will make everyone else in the city suffer with me” ?
I mean, it’s pretty much Mr Freeze’s entire motivation as a villain. But put like that it just felt like it was written by a toddler.
