My wife and I have our regular TV/movie watching time from around 9-11 every night.

Recently I’ve been working through some games on my Steam Deck (Pokemon GRAND Colosseum, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Control.) and have just really found that using a regular pillow to support my arms is just hot and often blocks the vents. Same issue if I use blankets, plus I feel like these don’t offer enough support.

All this to says — do you use a lap desk? If so, are you married to a particular type or brand?

I’m probably looking for more of a lap desk than a TV tray type thing.

A cylinder or triangle elongated semi-soft object you can lay lengthwise on your torso and balance the steamdeck at a pivot point on. Think foam yoga roller, stiff bolster pillow or headboard wedge pillow or something where you can rest but still pivot the steam deck around a central point. A large hardcover book or two with something on top also works. Just make sure it narrows near the pivot point/top so you can lay your arms comfortably on either side.

A basic clamshell camping chair if it is stiff enough works as a decent platform to use the steam deck “laptop style” with a bluetooth keyboard especially if you lay a thin wide book behind the steam deck as a backing to prop it up.
