Many varities of edible mushrooms are not easy to grow and have smaller, more niche markets. Think Matsutake, Porchini, and Truffle, instead of Oyster and Portobello.
However, I’m pretty sure the wild mushroom varieties are about the same in both US and Canada. So this is purely a disruption tactic.
Why would we be getting mushrooms from another country? Aren’t mushrooms pretty simple to grow most anywhere?
