Literally noone in the history of the world thinks that you can normalise child porn by calling it child porn. But some people, faced with the difficulty of making a real difference, seize in the only thing they feel they can control: other people’s language.

The ones advocating for it are child protection agencies, not randos on the internet with no control.

I found it annoying as well at first but it’s easy to get used too. I don’t see the harm in it.

Because firstly, while they can talk how they like as long as it makes sense, they want to demonstrate how pure and holy they are by berating everyone not offering their edicts. And secondly because the literal meaning doesn’t cover everything they want to apply it to. Drawn child porn is not “child sexual assault material” but they still want to use the same term, because for them purity tests are more important than making sense.

Nobody is labeling lolicon stuff as csam.

I think you are looking too deep into it. All I know is that experts who have made it their life’s work catching predators want us to use CSAM and think it might have an effect, I’m not going to give people grief over using it.

I see it most times this comes up.

I’m not going to give people grief over using it.

Sure. But I’m not going to take grief for not using it, nor omit an eye-rolling comment when someone else gets grief.
