Jamrock Hobo, one of the main DE channels, did a pretty fair and unbiased review about the game.

The game had its flaws, but it was still a good game. But, ZA/UM, they don’t seem to understand their own unstable situation. The drama got out in enough circles, and permanently damaged their reputation. Having them immediately fire the staff afterwards just seems like it’s pulling the same shit over again, further cancelling any good PR they may have made with the game’s release.

I don’t see how they get out of this. ZA/UM is done, and will get replaced by one of the other 3-4 studios that were borne from its ashes. At least the ideas around it are starting to get traction in other games.

pretty sure the original devs from disco elysium had split years ago from za/um. the studio is now just a name.

    …it released?

Not that I really cared in the first place. Of all the wannabe Disco Elysium successors, I had the least faith in ZA/UM. They fucked over the creatives, but still believe that they’re the shit.

I bought it during the recent sale and played for an hour. Just returned it this week. Same vibe as Disco, but the protagonists voice isn’t nearly as soothing or refined as the last guy they chose.

The thick British accent did not catch me, and was a struggle at times to understand. To be clear: I’m a big fan of British comedies and programming, but I don’t think I could have made it a whole game with this lady.

Workers at ZA/UM once again facing the consequences of its managers decisions. Sad as ZP is by most accounts genuinely pretty good, though I haven’t got around to playing it myself yet.
