This rant tells me absolutely nothing about what happened except that this man is angry about something. Since you’re calling him a fascist, you seem to know what is going on, or have some type of context. What happened?
Dude created a lemmy front end and made it free for public use.
What he didn’t tell anyone was he had a secret blocklist written into it that meant he effectively controlled who and what anyone who used it saw across the entire fediverse. Basically tried to make themselves modking.
When this was discovered, they had a meltdown, then another one, then another fifteen screaming that everyone was just a bunch of toxic violent cunts who didnt understand their vision. The post addressed here was about count five. They’re still here.
The author of tesseract hardcoded blacklists that targeted communities, moderator and phrases that were progressive or anti-conservative. These blacklists weren’t editable by a user, not publicised, and not documented.
Users then starting posting how it explained why they weren’t seeing that content as much. Then some users cried themselves to sleep because they weren’t special enough to be in included in the lists. 😭
So they got called out for supporting fascists, took their toys home, and left a boobie trap on their website while crying to sleep at home alone, or maybe on the streets. I don’t know or really care where they are crying.
I see. As someone who has been in said communities, I must ask: were all trans and leftist communities blocked, or were only the niche hang-outs of specific individuals blocked? Because in my experience, trans and leftist spaces are rarely what they are named for, and are instead hangout spaces for specific online cliques. “Trans communities” may ban all trans people except 5 individuals, for example, and still call themselves a “trans” community.
You said that “they” got “called out for supporting fascists”? What fascists did they support? Are you saying that the author of the blacklist is a fascist based on his banning trans and leftist communities, or are you saying that they’re Trump supporters or something like that?
I’m afraid this is not enough context, my apologies.
I have never seen anything but very left leaning communities on Lemmy. What is this about?
I don’t know what your comment has to do with mine. What is what about?
They locked out the entirety of blahaj and db0 and also the phrase “censoring me”.
They also had a violent objection to beans
Is that a joke? Beans?
And quokk.au, afaik the only other trans instance alongside Blahaj.
That sounds like complete BS.
Well, I don’t know what to say. Which part sounds like BS?
No apologies necessary, I know the gist of what’s going on but not the details. This looks to be the start of it https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/72685299
I didn’t even know what tesseract was last week 😄
NoScript blocks this link, so given the very limited context, I think I’ll skip this link for now.
Noscript does not block this link
edit: my mouse was in the way
Lemmy-ui uses javascript. That’s not instance specific.
Edit to your edit: read what that text says.
Thank you.
its effectively a shadowban.
I don’t have a link or full context, but it turned out that the dev of tessaract (open source program for fediverse sites, involving at least spam and blocking tools) had a functionality in the program that fetched their own block list from their site. But this blocksite was blocking a huge amount of users, fediverse domains, and anything with any keywords which would be anything political, some porn/sexual terms like Yuri, and lots more. This block was completely invisible the ones running the program and would also give fediverse instances that were blocked a generic failed to connect error instead of saying blocked, preventing the fediverse instances from talking.
Seeing the above, it seems like the dev didn’t handle this discovery in any good way either and retaliated but doing this ddos thing.
I see, so he blocked specific keywords, not just specific users?
Thank you for taking the time to provide me this context.
He blocked thousands of users, communities, instances, and keywords.

Chances are high you were one of the blocked people.
