They’re just idiots. The Helenistic world was massive. There were all sorts of different people in it or involved with it. Just look at all the Alexandrias - they’re all over the place. The Greeks made it all the way to India and some even converted to Buddhism (e.g. King Menander I). Greek views on sexuality were very different to the heteronormative ideas RETVRN types would like to think. And they were SUPER into trade, sex, conversation & philosophizing, and general schmoozing with people of all colors creeds and persuasions. And the concept of a white race hadn’t been invented yet.

Black Greeks. “Gay” Greeks (messy, they may not have thought quite like this, but still). Buddhist Greeks. Middle Eastern Greeks. Zoroastrian Greeks. Indian Greeks. Hindu Greeks. Interracial Greek Couples (they didn’t really have the concept of “race” yet though). All totally normal.

The ancient world was much more complex and interesting than these 🤡 would like to think.

I’m looking forward to seeing the a Odyssey as the Greek myths were a big part of the stories I read as a kid and Nolan generally can be relied on to make good films (Interstellar and Tenent being two of the rare misses for me).
