The US has nothing to do with the actual function of the Canadian election process, that being citizens voting of their own will. Included with that is the fact that the Liberals also wouldn’t have won if the election process hadn’t been started in the first place, as you literally quoted, by Trudeau resigning independently of any US-caused factors.
