Well with movies he was in last decade it is not that high bar
The best actual script he was handed was either Iron Giant or Saving Private Ryan. He has some perspective on what’s actually good. He just chooses scripts where directors replace dialog with loud noises.
Maybe he has read a lot of script that were way better, but there wasn’t as much money in them so he didn’t do em?
