In fairness to yourself, Venus has long been known, by many human societies and cultures, as something approximating ‘the morning star’.

Your experience of being confused, or perhaps awestruck by it is thus… exceedingly human.

    Take it all in.

The beauty, the colors, what the wind and rain and sun feel like on your skin, the cries of the birds and cicadas.

…We are from this ‘outside’. It is where our father’s fathers and mother’s mothers all grew up. Yes, we invented cvilization to shelter us from its cruelties… but it is also very beautiful and therapeutic, in ways we still cannot simulate with our fancy tools and toys.

    Here.

Someone who put it into a much more beautiful prose than I can:

Carl Sagan, The Pale Blue Dot.
