Any time you pause it or rewind it or sneeze it throws the “EXO failed to play this video” error.

That’s WHEN it decides to play sound.

I noticed they said they aren’t worried about fixing it on github??

What is going on here?

I’m using a shield tv pro and it acts like this on my gaming PC too always freezing and making me force shut it down.

Did something happen with stremio lately?

Edit: anyone know of any viable alternatives that don’t require learning hours of self hosting stuff like Jellyfin?

Jellyfin is brain-dead easy to setup what? Just install and point it to your media?? That’s it lmao

Its also brain-dead easy to get your network hacked by having your NAS exposed to the open web all the time.

I do not have the time or the desire to learn how to have it accessible safely from other devices.

And I also don’t want to spend a hundred million dollars on more storage right now.

You don’t expose your NAS, you expose a web server to serve Jellyfin content. Ideally you front it with a reverse proxy.

I think things like “front it with a reverse proxy” is the stuff OP doesn’t understand or want to learn.

Stremio is install, stream. No hosting of own content (and as this thread points out OP probably dosnt have any), no proxy, no downloading and setting up a seperate arr stack.

Put it this way, my 14yr old cousin has Stremio its that simple. While they could install Jellyfin I doubt they could setup and run all the other requirements to obtain and watch media as easily.

Sure but then you are just paying somone else to do the piracy for you. I guess it’s cheaper than proper subscriptions but I feel somewhat ideologically opposed to these pay for piracy services that just leech from the ecosystem.

            That’s exactly right.

Its not that I don’t have the desire to learn its that I work 2 jobs and have children and don’t want to spend the few hours I do have free a day (which I take away from sleep to have) to be pulling my hair out learning about networking.

It sucks I know because I know it would probably be the superior option and I DO like seeding what I watch and stuff like that its just been easier to use torbox with stremio and have it work.

I feel like I don’t have the time to learn about reverse proxies and stuff like that.

Just install and point it to your media

Someone using stremio is unlikely to have any media to point jellyfin at.
