well…a lot of things went wrong. it was released when the franchise itself was dying. I’m sorry but Borderlands was last good with the second one and maybe the Tales series. It’s a dark humor style game and they removed all the dark humor from the movie. characters that were nothing like their in game counterparts. a movie that was trying to be a “family friendly” flick based on a game series that isn’t family friendly. It’s like trying to make a Bioshock film and turning it into a Pixar movie. doesn’t make sense. Also you cast Kevin Hart who is instantly going to turn off just about everyone as I don’t know a single person that has ever said “ooooh a new Kevin Hart film! i have to go see it!” I swear that dude is only famous cause he clearly owns a handful of souls in hollywood and is an agent of Lucifer.

The borderlands series kinda fell off a cliff when they forgot that it, at its core, was a big fuck-you to corpo bullshit. Literally was supposed to be a Mad Max style game. Its been dulled down to fart jokes and edgy humour and trying to capitalize on references and trends, with a shiny package and guns.

Katt Williams has made the point many times, that Hart was effectively engineered by Hollywood to be their perfect choice for every comedic sidekick role. He’s a corporate commodity and nothing more
