I watched this movie while flying on magic mushrooms. That opening battle scene blew my mind to the point that I had stop watching the movie.
Watched it sober, the most corny movie ever.
it’s my favourite movie all time. yes it’s corny, yes it’s one giant toy commercial for the new toy line at the time (they literally kill off the old toy line) but I love it. My Dad took me to see it in theatres when it first came out when i was 3 or 4. I cried when the Decepticons boarded the Autobot shuttle and killed Brawn, Prowl, Ironhide and Ratchet. I absolutely bawled my eyes out when Prime died to the point my Dad had to take me out of the theatre. So many characters died. They even drag the corpses of Wheeljack and Windbreaker around with them in the city. a couple years later it was on TV and my Dad recorded it for me on VHS and I wore that tape out over the next 20 years. I’ve seen it so many times, more than any other movie.
I know the film line for line, including all the songs, I quote it constantly “Now all we need is a little energon, and a lot of luck.”
It’s a stupid and corny massive toy commercial. But I absolutely love it.
Having Weird Al’s Dare to Be Stupid during an action scene was the most bizarre choice they made for that entire movie
Ba weep gra neep ba ra ninibong
Orson Wells is awesome in this one
There just seemed to be non-stop unintentionally traumatic stuff in this era, including that movies would have real human skeletons (sold for medical demonstration) in them. Maybe they were trying to prepare us for the nightmare future of 2026.
70s/80s kids cinema was fucking brutal. This, Watership Down, The Neverending Story, All Dogs Go To Heaven, The Black Cauldron, The Dark Crystal, to name just a few. So much terror and sadness, no wonder I’m so jaded.
Also the entire nightmare fuel ending of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Stop trying to make Rodimus Prime happen.
It’s not going to happen.
