    Does that mean they’re going to break into my house and delete all the local games, compilers and interpreters off my computer? Because unless they’re doing that, this is just factually incorrect.

      No, it means that when your old stuff breaks you won’t be able to buy replacements.

      Endgame would be a client so thin it has nothing but a screen and ROM to boot the network interface.

      We are already seeing that the demand for desktop scale ram and video cards is negligible relative to data centre scale. Why would anyone keep making stuff for your home PC if most people are happy with their subscription only streaming devices?

      I don’t have a solution but the tech company roadmap seems pretty clear. You’ll own nothing.
